I've enjoyed the car for 10 years. I bought it from a college student (a senior) who was getting married and moving away for $3500.I then replaced the cracked windshield ($100.), put in a new AM/FM CD ($200.) and right headlight component ($180) and just had the engine value gaskets replaced (it was due to mileage,not burning oil) $380 because I was debating about keeping it. Why am I selling it so cheaply. I own 2 trucks and am 69 years old and a little tired of "my toy" as my wife calls it. I want it to go to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have.It drives and runs very well...back tires are a little worn (but I know the tire shop I purchased them from --2 would cost $30. each) and to have it detailed would cost (up to $200) and all this I will deduct from the asking price.In the future I know you'll need a brake job, but not now.Also the convertible canvas top is in great shape except on one right side seem near the back window. I ran black Gorilla tape (as you can see in the photo) over the seem. No leakage what-so-ever. A new top with a plastic back window costs over $500..this one is a heated glass back window. So, I would forget about replacing it since you have the top down most of the time. Also, it has a working Factory Anti-theft Alarm System and Heated Black Leather Seats. Leather. This vehicle is Located near Largo Florida.I am selling this VERY nice (2) Owner and Accident Free 2001 VW Cabrio with about 68K miles because I can no longer drive a standard shift due to medical issues. I believe I am the second owner. The car has been garaged kept and in very good condition. It is my second car, (lady driven, by the way) used for fun driving. It runs and drives very well. Engine feels like new-smooth and gas efficient; firm ride, steering is tight and centered. I’ve been recharging the a/c in the summer .... it runs low periodically. Cosmetically it's also in above average condition. Exterior body shines very well. Body is considerably straight but it does have some minor dings, scuffs and blemishes here and there but nothing alarming whatsoever. Top is in need of repair at rear window seam. Custom wheels by VOLT with locks are included, and headlight glass is CLEAR. Tires are in near new condition also, by the way, the spare tire is present and used just once. Comes with original convertible top boot and owner's manual. Ive been made aware of the fact that the car is probably worth more $$ if sold piece by piece, but she’s a loyal car and I just couldn’t do that to her. We’ve been together for 10+ years! In conclusion, if looking for a VERY NICE and CLEAN convertible then I feel that this one should more than deliver expectations. Ideal car for first time drivers, students, or anyone just looking for a fun ride under the sun!! In my opinion, I think that this is a lot of car for the money! 1999 VW GLS Cabrio with power top, 4 speed automatic transmission, A/C and seat heaters. It has 60,320 documented miles and is in excellent condition. Car was garaged in southern California for its entire life and I am the second owner. The Original Tornado Red paint is excellent with a small scuff on front right bumper, shown in photos. Transmission was replaced by dealer early in its life and shifts and operates as new. Factory leather Recaros that are fully adjustable, supportive and comfortable. Fabric top is like new, has the factory boot, a glass rear window with defroster and works flawlessly. All windows, gauges and cruise control work perfectly. The clock works but cannot be adjusted as the adjuster knob slips. Tires are speed rated Kumos and fresh within the last year (less than 5000 miles). No damage history and clean CarFax. Car is completely stock with the 2.0 liter 115 h.p. motor. A late model Pioneer radio with bluetooth is installed (original radio included). This Volkswagen certainly demonstrates it’s German heritage as it remains squeak and rattle free. An absolute joy to drive with it’s nimble size and responsive steering. This Cabrio runs and drives very well. Perfect for open top motoring while enjoying excellent fuel economy.
